Introduction:
Thesis statement: Gaining Business Research design (BRD) skills is useful to help me in the current/potential career/workplace/industry.
When a new business or project is started, with group of new people or getting a partnership, it is crucial that everyone understand the needs and expectations from that new venture or project. A business requirement design (BRD) skills are utilized to define the details of the business needs and how to fulfill them with the help of skills or technology (Wysong, 2020). Business related research can be divided into two broad categories, including problem identification research and problem-solving research (Stewart, 2014). This essay caters with both categories of business-related research, where it will describe the importance of acquiring business research design (BRD) skills in order to help an individual in detecting problems in the workplace and then design suitable solutions for them.
Discussion
Problem detecting and problem solving is involved in every aspect and every stage of life. Problem solving and research-based problem-solving skill attainment gives a sense of meaningful learning, where research can be used to bring out the best answers for wicked problems in the desired area of interest. (Crul, 2014). Students are taught problem solving skills to solve science and math related problems and also other technological problems (Eyisi, 2016). Similarly, managers and employees have given trainings on development of skills, required to solve problems on a regular business, in order to manage the business effectively (Tien, 2019). This shows skills are required at every level; therefore, special skills can be useful in starting one’s own business and starting a career.
Today’s global economy demands highly skilled, energetic and sharp citizens, where organizations demand employees and managers acquiring necessary skills, to cater all the challenges in their way. Businesses require people with skills like, critical thinking, communication skills and skills of adapting new technologies, as well as skills related to adopting new environment (Alshare and Sewailem, 2018).
Justification/Reason 1:
The demand of acquiring new skills are affected by new business trends and challenges, for example, automation in business activities, globalization and technological changes, development of communication technologies, workplace and work dynamic changes, increased expectations of employers and work domain etc. has transformed the overall requirement portfolio of the news skills for new business setups (Alshare and Sewailem, 2018). This means that employees with expert skills are preferred and are more in demand. Therefore, in my view, it’s important for individuals to acquire new technical and research-based skills, in order to get selected and remain competitive in their respective careers.
According to peer review analysis, business related research skills, service learning and other critical reasoning is helpful in detecting economic, social and environmental problems in entrepreneurial and normal working scenario. Therefore, it can be said that new innovative skills are important to be gained, otherwise due to lack of knowledge, experience and skills, many potential entrepreneurs or individuals may fail in exploring and proving their hidden business-related skills (Martínez-Campillo, Sierra-Fernández and Fernández-Santos, 2019). Research has been conducted on different research and entrepreneurial skills, which are connected to human capital perspective theory, where importance of right skills has been explained to be the outcome of right kind of coaching, education or experience (Kerrin, Mamabolo and Kele, 2017). In addition, Chell (2013) claimed that research related skills in business or entrepreneurship are always under observation for the researchers. He argued that skills once obtained, can be unlearned, forgotten or outdated, if not polished or well executed. He also claimed that skills can be multi-dimensional, transferable, context based and continuous in nature (Chell, 2013). Additionally, research skills for problem solving and problem identification are essential and most paid jobs are offered to people having such professional skills and qualification. As business spent a lot of money in finding or providing solution for wrong problems, therefore they seek for people who can do this job best for them (Stewart, 2014). Therefore, one should acquire right research or domain related skills and also should keep updating his/her skills, in order to remain successful in the desired industry or career.
Justification/Reason 2:
As the employers or changed business dynamics require new skillful individual who can help in managing their work effectively, skills should be developed since early age of the individuals. By understanding this gap and need of developing skills in the graduating students, its useful to give practical knowledge to the students at the academic level. This will get them an idea of how to detect problem and find its solution at an early stage and prepare them for the practical world. Therefore, academic institutes are focusing on providing different and unique skills to their graduates in order to serve the industry by producing skillful employees.
Currently, academic bodies have designed educational courses and programs which will activate problem solving and research related skills in the students. Also, business research courses are introduced in order to develop problem investigation and exploration skills, selecting suitable measures to solve these problems and take right actions (Yearworth, 2013). New practical education and teaching methods have been adopted, where students are exposed to real life problems and real work-related scenarios, in order to develop their interest in the area. This will infuse critical thinking mechanism. In order to develop research and critical thinking, new graduates need to learn skills like scenario tackling, research, method of inquiring, brainstorming, etc. (Tokarčíková et al., 2020).
In academia, now focus should be more on Work integrated learning, problem solving, root-causing studies, where the traditional class room concepts are combined with a practical way of learning, where students must be encouraged to take internships, part-time work, in order to get exposed to the work-related environment and problems in their chosen domain ( Jackson, 2015).
Therefore, many universities are promoting work and education by providing opportunities like fieldwork, practical visits, internship programs, placement drives, sandwich year degree options, cooperative education option, traineeship etc. ( Jackson, 2015). The key objective of this activity is to prepare the undergraduate students for the real work life. Correspondingly, this will reduce the gap between academic learning and practical world, which will help the graduates to find job easily and employers will also find the right employees.
Justification/Reason 3:
Business Research design (BRD) skills are essential for industry, career and personal setup, as this will enable individuals in designing new products, services, as per the customer’s requirements. Therefore, it’s important to know one’s personal and research skills and highlight them in an interview or resume/profile, in order to tell the recruiters or business partners why one important for their company or the required role. This will increase their chances to find the right jobs and chances of getting hired.
Business Research design (BRD) skills enables the individual to conduct market related research in one’s company, as well as outside of the company, which will give them insights about potential opportunities and dilemmas in the workplace, industry or whole country. The individual can easily understand the customer’s needs, understand the market potential, characteristics etc., which will be essential in expanding the business activities. Therefore, skill-building and acquiring new research and business-related skills is an on-going process, where old skills need to be kept updated and new skills must be learned, in order to remain competitive and desirable for the changing world, industry and workplace setups.
Conclusion
To conclude it is essential to acquire skills obtained from Business research studies, which are helpful in completing the desired degree and are also useful in future job/career. Three justifications were proposed to support this statement, on the basis of past papers and researches, which are as follows:
Therefore, learning and skill building is said to be an essential and continuous process, where every person is polishing his/her skills by what new he/she does, whether in the workplace, in class room or in personal setup.
