Phone Calls:
The homeroom instructor can schedule regular phone calls with Alison to discuss Alex’s progress and share strategies to support his learning at home. Similarly, phone calls with Daniel and Eunji regarding Dino and Mary’s progress and challenges can be made.
SMS Reminders:
The text messages can be used to provide quick reminders regarding resources and activities. Through this, Alison can stay connected and remain informed even with long nursing shifts and engage the Lees with timely updates.
Digital Platforms
Platforms such as Google Classroom or Seesaw can serve as LMS to share students' work, enabling Philips to track Alex's performance and Alicent's emotions while Lees can monitor Dino and Mary’s progress. Create a closed Facebook or WhatsApp group for parents to share concerns, and experiences and provide support. This will foster a community of families who can reach out when faced with challenges.
Workshops and Sessions:
The childcare center can organize workshops that can provide information and awareness related to children with learning disabilities for the Phillips, and stress management for the Lee. The childcare center can invite professional speakers to speak on the topics of coping strategies related to stress and anxiety or effective study techniques to deal with ADHD.
Empathy and Confidentiality:
Cultural Sensitivity Training:
The childcare center should provide cultural sensitivity training to its staff for cultural awareness such that the diverse background of both families can be dealt with respect. The childcare centers should establish secure communication channels that share personal or academic information that is in alignment with empathy and sensitivity.
