This assessment required a two-part submission. Assessment Task 1 required a critical review of a selected policy brief, focusing on key educational inequalities, proposed interventions, and the application of inclusive pedagogy. Policy Brief 1, addressing Latinx students in higher education, was selected, with the conceptual focus grounded in Transnationalism and International Migration. The response analysed systemic disadvantages such as exclusionary practices, language barriers, financial inequality, and limited institutional representation. Solutions and pedagogical strategies were critically examined using academic sources and relevant theoretical frameworks. Assessment Task 2 expanded the discussion into a full 3000-word policy brief focused on migrant-background secondary school students in the UK. The task required a comprehensive contextual analysis, literature review, critique of existing policies, stakeholder perspectives, and theoretically grounded recommendations. The work applied transnational theory to assess how educational systems can better include culturally and linguistically diverse populations. Limitations of current frameworks such as SDG 4 and EAL policies were identified, and evidence-based, actionable recommendations were proposed. These included inclusive curriculum reforms, multilingual assessments, and parent-community partnerships.
