For this assignment, the task was to critically analyze a patient-facing digital technology platform and discuss its impact on self-management, unmet needs, therapeutic relationships, safety, equity issues, and the role of healthcare professionals. The focus was on evaluating a digital platform in light of evidence-based practice and considering its benefits and limitations.
In my work, I selected the topic of Ozempic as a patient-facing technology for managing obesity and diabetes. I reviewed a blog post by Heart Smart Australia (2023) and explored the benefits and challenges of using this medication, including its effect on weight loss, diabetes management, and the associated risks. I examined how the blog provided credible, research-backed information to educate both healthcare professionals and patients, contributing to best practice in obesity management.
