The assessment required the development of a research report addressing a real-world healthcare issue through a suitable digital health solution. The task involved identifying a specific healthcare problem, justifying its significance with credible evidence, and proposing an appropriate digital intervention. The solution had to be supported by relevant literature and critically evaluated in terms of implementation, including usability, organisational integration, required resources, ethical and legal considerations, equity, privacy, and system interoperability. The report needed to demonstrate alignment with unit learning outcomes and graduate learning outcomes such as critical thinking, digital literacy, communication, and self-management. The report focused on the mental health service gap in regional Australia and explored teleconsultations as a viable solution. Supported by recent literature, the report highlighted the effectiveness of teleconsultations in reducing travel barriers, improving access to specialists, and enhancing patient satisfaction. Implementation aspects were analysed in detail, addressing digital infrastructure, staff training, and the need for culturally responsive and inclusive design. Ethical standards, privacy regulations, and data security frameworks were also examined to ensure safe usage. Interoperability with existing electronic medical records and healthcare systems was discussed to promote integration. The report effectively met the task requirements by presenting a well-researched, critically evaluated, and evidence-based proposal aligned with digital health trends.
