UM20H: Therapeutic Interventions and Communication in Bipolar Disorder: The Case of Joseph

This assessment required a 10-minute audio-visual PowerPoint presentation analysing a mental health case study. I focused on Joseph, a 30-year-old Aboriginal man diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder. I discussed the condition’s causes, symptoms, and prevalence, linking them to Joseph’s history of aggression, substance use, and sleep issues. I proposed culturally safe communication and rapport-building strategies, along with nursing interventions focused on safety, emotional support, medication adherence, and structured care. I also outlined psychotherapeutic and pharmacological treatments to support his holistic recovery.
